How We Began

Like so many other people, I was placed on the furlough scheme due to the Corona Virus -COVID19 in 2020. Despite having my family and friends around me and keeping busy through volunteering and taking copious amounts of Open University online courses, I found myself struggling. Living at home with my partner, I am not alone but I knew something was wrong, the feeling of emptiness was overwhelming yet I could not explain it.  This then led to guilt and shame when I tried to express how I felt because I knew there were so many people in much worse situations (I was reminded of that by some people) and I did not want to be deemed a drama queen. Lucky for me I had a handful of people that recognised how I was feeling and were concerned I was not my normal self.  They took time to call me regularly, to go for socially distanced walks or for an outside takeaway coffee. Those people really made a difference and I'll always remember how special they are. As this continued, I couldn't stop thinking that if I felt this way with people around me, then how must others feel without anybody? This stayed with me as the days, weeks and months passed by.  I was eventually made redundant from the job that I loved the latter part of the year, my daily interactions with colleagues were now over and I was devastated at the time.  What was I going to do?  Then it came to me, the opportunity that was standing in front of me, it was time and hence my new venture.
